The films

Two of Derwent's own team, on site, in their own words.

John Burton, Senior Project Manager

One year to completion

John walks the building a year out from completion: the strip-out, the new services and the 108,000 sq ft of workspace taking shape inside the Victorian shell.

Samantha Carlsson, Sustainability Lead

A second life for everything inside

Sam explains the circular approach: materials kept on site, reused steel in permanent works, and the biochar concrete pour we filmed as it happened.

Samantha Carlsson, Sustainability Lead

Why Sam does the job

A short, personal piece: what it means to plan the ideas for a building and then see them built.

The reels

Every film also cut vertical and subtitled, ready for LinkedIn and Instagram.

Greencoat & Gordon is Derwent London's refurbishment of a Victorian warehouse in Victoria, delivering 108,000 sq ft of office space. Derwent wanted the build explained by the people doing it, not by a voiceover.

The brief

Two short films, each led by a member of the Derwent team. John Burton, the project manager, would give a site progress update. Sam Carlsson, the sustainability lead, would cover the circular-economy work. Both films were to be cut landscape and vertical, with subtitles.

The shoot

We timed the shoot for the day of the biochar concrete pour, so Sam could talk about it while it happened around her. Two of us covered the site: one on the pieces to camera, one on the detail. That meant the radiator covers and raised floors kept for reuse, the strip-out upstairs, and a drone over the roof to show the building in its street.

The films

The shoot gave us more than the brief asked for, so we cut a third, shorter film of Sam talking about why she does the job. All six cuts were reviewed and approved by Derwent through FrontDoor, our client review portal.
